Privacy policy

Opener (formerly Manage My Comp) is software for running strength sport competitions. This policy explains what information we handle through www.openermeetday.com, the Opener app, and the public sign-up and results pages, and how it is used. If you have any questions, email opener@pendragondevelopment.com.
No accounts
There are no organiser accounts and no sign-in. Competitions are created and kept in the Opener app on the organiser's device. When an organiser puts a competition online, the app creates a secret key for it; we keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy, to check that changes come from that device.
Competitor information
When an organiser adds a lifter in the app, or a lifter signs up on a competition's public sign-up page, the competition holds:
- name, date of birth and gender
- the events entered, and a division or federation if the organiser asks for one
This is used to run the competition: weight classes, age divisions, lifting order and results. Lifters added in the app stay on the organiser's device. Online sign-ups are stored in the cloud (Amazon Web Services, London region) until the organiser takes the competition offline or deletes it; the organiser downloads them into the app to run the day. Organisers are responsible for the competitions they run and the entries they collect.
On competition day
Bodyweights, attempts, rack heights and results are saved in the app's own storage on the scoring device. They stay there until the organiser deletes the competition or uninstalls the app.
Multiscreen and referee lights work over the venue's local network. The scoring device shares the current lifter, lifting order, plate loading and standings directly with other devices running Opener as displays, and receives referee decisions from referees' phones. This data goes between devices on that network only and isn't sent to us. Devices pair using a PIN shown at the scoring table.
The app asks for local network permission so devices can find each other. They don't use your location.
Results
When an organiser publishes results, competitors' names, divisions, weight classes, bodyweights, best lifts, totals and placings appear on a public results page. The organiser can update or remove them at any time.
Organisers can also export results in OpenPowerlifting's format. The file is created on the organiser's device and only shared if the organiser chooses to submit it. OpenPowerlifting is a separate public database with its own policies.
Advertising in the apps
The Opener app may show adverts served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and information about ad interactions to show and measure adverts, and on some devices it may ask for your consent. See how Google uses information in ads. You can limit ad tracking or reset your advertising ID in your device settings.
This website and cookies
www.openermeetday.com uses Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrived, and the rough location and type of device, so we can improve it. Analytics only runs if you accept it in the cookie banner; until then no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google. The website doesn't show adverts, and we've turned off advertising and ad personalisation for it.
If you accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies:
_ga: tells visits from the same browser apart. Expires after 2 years._ga_LVS81199ES: keeps track of the current visit. Expires after 2 years.
Google processes this data on our behalf and may transfer it outside the UK under its standard contractual safeguards. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Analytics data is kept for 2 months. We use it on the basis of your consent.
The site also remembers your cookie choice in your browser's local storage, so it doesn't ask again. This is strictly necessary and isn't shared with anyone. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of each page; if you reject analytics, its cookies are deleted.
Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
Deleting your data
Organisers can remove a competition's sign-ups and results from the website at any time by taking it offline in the app. Lifters can ask the organiser, or email opener@pendragondevelopment.com, to have their details removed from a sign-up list or results page. Data saved on a device is removed by deleting the competition or uninstalling the app.
Changes
We'll update this page if the way we handle data changes, and change the date at the top.
